Chris Flint, Health and Safety Executive
Chris is the Health and Safety Executive’s (HSE) Director Energy Division (ED) and sits on HSE’s Extended Management Board. Chris has been with HSE for over 25 years and has regulatory experience as both an inspector and manager in most sectors of industry including manufacturing, construction, health services, fairgrounds, quarrying and major hazards.
HSE’s Energy Division oversees the upstream offshore and onshore oil and gas industry, onshore gas and pipeline infrastructure, renewables and mines for England, Scotland and Wales. These industries involve complex processes with intrinsic hazards that need careful management and Chris is committed to ensuring Energy Division provides effective regulation across these sectors.
Chris regularly meets with stakeholders in the offshore industry, including Oil and Gas UK, and represents HSE at the Step Change Leadership Team.
He spent a number of years in operational policy and his most recent post was Head of
Operations in the Chemical Explosives and Microbiological Hazards Division regulating the onshore chemicals sector across Scotland, the North East, Cumbria and Yorkshire. The sector includes refineries and oil and gas terminals and storage.
